For my final year project, to go with my chosen subject of water, I created a Risograph single A4 sheet of an object that belongs to me and relates to water. I chose my wooden handplane which was created by a surf brand called Watershed based in Newquay, Cornwall. It is a beautifully handcrafted object used for bodysurfing with an interesting history dating back to 1769 when Captain Cook was credited as the founder of the sport whilst exploring Tahiti.
Bodysurfing was inspired by Dolphins and Seals playing in the waves and was widely regarded by many professionals surfers as the starting point of their career. Some professional surfers started at a very young age learning how to negotiate riding waves on their stomach before they took to their feet.
